¹⁷ He was thirty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned for eight years in Jerusalem. ¹⁸ He walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had, for the daughter of Ahab was his wife. He did what was evil in the sight of the Lord. ¹⁹ Yet, the Lord would not destroy Judah for the sake of David, his servant, for he had promised to give a light to him and his children forever.
